Movie News: Everyone looking sexxxxayyyy on the poster for The Victim

Is that Danielle Harris on the right?  Meeeeeoowwwww.  If they were looking for sex appeal on this poster, they got it.  Not sure why my fave scream queen doesn't get her name in the bright lights, but I love ya, girl.

We've got an updated synopsis that's a little clearer about the plot than the previous one I posted.  From BeyondHollywood.com:

"Good time girls ANNIE (Jennifer Blanc) and MARY (Danielle Harris) went into the wilderness looking for a good time. But when Annie witnesses a violent act at the hands of two Sheriff’s Deputies, she is forced on the run and stumbles across KYLE (Michael Biehn), a recluse living in the woods. Two worlds collide in this psychological thriller that will make you question your trust in mankind. WHO IS THE VICTIM?"

The trailer is all over the net, and let me tell you, I love the Grindhouse-y 80s vibe they're going for with this one.  We've got the B-movie deep voice announcer, and 2 minutes chock full of doggy-style sex, requests to see penis, and crow bar package burning.  I'm still not entirely sure what this movie is going for, but I can't wait to find out.

No official release date on this one yet, but let's cross our fingers for at least a small theatrical release and not straight-to-DVD.  

Movie News: "My Soul to Take" gets poster and new release date

 What a lame poster.  Seriously I would walk right past that thing thinking its some sort of Michael Cera movie or something.  Too many words, stupid picture, crappy white background.  Meh.

Also, the flick has moved up its 2D and 3D release date to October 8.  I'm starting to realize why 3D peaced out in the 80s.  I've only seen like one 3D movie and I am already just sick of hearing about it.  I just don't think seeing movies in 3D is that awesome.  Maybe I just need to see something in particular to change my mind...?

Anyway, I'm probably going to wait for this to come out on DVD before I check it out.  I just haven't found anything too compelling or interesting about it.

Movie News: William Forsythe to Star in The Rig

I like William Forsythe.  The only thing I could say negatively about him (and it really wasn't his fault) was that Southern Gothic was horrendous.  Seriously, the sound was so screwy on that thing that I had to turn it off halfway through because I couldn't be bothered to keep turning the volume up and down for fear of infuriating half my apartment building.

But I digress.  Mr. Forsythe is back and he gets the top billing treatment on The Rig, which will be out on DVD on October 5.  The synopsis from DreadCentral.com...

"When a tropical storm forces an offshore drilling company to evacuate non-essential personnel from the Charlie oil rig, the small but experienced crew left behind settles in to ride out the storm. Their routine night is interrupted when a crew member goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Slowly, they discover that a deadly creature is stalking the crew, eliminating them one by one. Surrounded by nothing but raging ocean with no hope of escape, the roughnecks must survive the stormy night with an unrelenting force of death hunting them down. The film also stars Stacey Hinnen (“Modern Family,” “Monk”), Serah D’Laine (Wild Things: Diamonds in the Rough; “General Hospital”), Marcus T. Paulk (Red Tails, “Moesha”) and Dan Benson (“Wizards of Waverly Place.”)"

This movie comes strangely close to the BP oil disaster, but it is a new premise.  I don't think I've ever heard of a horror movie taking place on an oil rig before (although feel free to prove me wrong in the comments)  I'll be checking this one out with hopes of it being sort of like a bloody Deadliest Catch. 

Movie News: "The Human Centipede" gets limited release in NYC

I am seriously starting to think that I am a sick and demented person that needs some sort of horror intervention.  I really want to see this movie.  I'm making plans to go by myself so I don't have to drag anyone with me and make them throw up/hate me forever.

The Human Centipede is about a creepy doctor who is an expert at separating conjoined twins.  Now he wants to try a new project: joining three people together to share a digestive system and live as a centipede.

The best part about this?  Director and writer Tom Six had full cooperation of an actual surgeon who help devise the logistics of the centipede.  The surgeon (who won't release his name for obvious reasons) did some serious research on this and concluded that this experiment could survive for years.  This kind of thing is why I was obsessed with Nip/Tuck for so long.  Ridiculous injuries and surgeries that you don't think could possibly exist, but apparently they can.

This nonsense is slithering (heh) into NYC theaters on April 30th.  Is anyone else going to check this out?

Movie News: "My Soul to Take" Gets a Halloween 2010 Release Date

Apparently it's Wes Craven week here in horror world.  Coming off the news that Scream 4 is ready to roll, Wes Craven's other project, My Soul to Take gets a release date for October 29, 2010.

This may not seem like a big deal compared to Scream 4, but this is Craven's first directorial and writing project since 1994's A New Nightmare.  That's a long time!

The official synopsis is:

"In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer.

Adam "Bug" Heller (Max Thierot) was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane. Unaware of his dad’s terrifying crimes, he has been plagued by nightmares since he was a baby. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that’s returned, he must face an evil that won’t rest…until it finishes the job it began the day he was born."

The concept seems kinda meh, but it's Wes Craven, so I'll check it out and hope for the best.  The cast is mostly unknowns, so no fun cameos so far.  More to come.

Movie News: Scream 4 - Wes Craven confirms that it's onnnnnn!

Apparently Wes Craven heard me reminiscing about 90s horror the other day and decided to make all my wildest dreams come true.  The man himself will be directing the fourth installment, which is coming more than a decade agfter Scream 3.  I can't believe it's been that long!  No worries though, I think Neve's still got it.

The scheduled release date is April 12, 2011.  More to come on this, obviously.

Movie News: The Cabin in the Woods Has a Release Date!

So I sort of wrote this movie off as another stupid rip-off, but this poster intrigues me. Will this be Evil Dead meets Scary Movie? Friday the 13th meets Cabin Fever?

Apparently Joss Whedon claims that this will be "the horror movie to end all horror movies." Statements like that make me want to prove people wrong ;o)

Anyway, this drops on February 5, 2010, and I think you'll probably see me paying my $12 to check it out.

Movie News: The Fields Set for 2011 Release

As mentioned previously on this blog, it looks like someone had the horrible sense to hire Tara Reid for a movie that doesn't involve sex with baked goods.

Looks like Cloris Leachman has jumped on the trainwreck and this mess is set for release in 2011. Did they learn nothing from the disaster that was Incubus?

Movie News: Offspring out on DVD? That was fast!

Apparently I'm falling off my game a little bit in my old age. Right in time for Halloween season, Jack Ketchum's Offspring is out on DVD. That one slipped right by me. Was this even out in theaters? Not that I can see.

I rushed this to the top of my queue and will be checking it out this week. Also, the poster with the baby is badass. You know my feelings on babies in horror movies, but this one isn't answering a deadly cell phone, so it's cool.

Movie News: T-Rex Pushed Back to 2013

Apparently Rob Zombie wants me to have two kids and a house in the suburbs before this movie comes out. First it was pushed back because of H2 and now Zombie's making us wait even longer so he can focus on the remake of The Blob. I'm wondering how SMZ is going to play the damsel-in-distress role when she's pushing 40.  Not that she wouldn't look super-hot as always, but 2013 is SO FAR AWAY...

Movie News: White Meat, Dark Meat...All Will Be Carved

Thank you, Eli Roth. You have made all my wildest horror dreams come true. Thanksgiving, the much loved "fake" trailer from Grindhouse, is being made into a feature-length movie. Looks like it's not being released in a double feature with Machete as was originally suspected. Release is slated for 2011, so we've got a while to wait. Maybe they'll bump it up for the fourth Thursday in November....2010. A girl can dream, right?

Movie News: Trick R Treat Has a Release Date!

This controversial flick has been languishing on my Netflix "saved" queue for as long as I can remember. Originally released in October 2007, Trick r' Treat has been placed on indefinite hold as no one has wanted to release it on DVD. Although details have been fuzzy, it seems that there's quite a few child murders in the film, which has not made the distribution companies too happy.
Anyway, on October 6 we will all be able to see what the hype is about! Stay tuned for the inevitable review.

Movie News: RZ's T-Rex NOT coming in 2009 as noted by movie posters

I was REALLY excited about this movie (as with anything Rob-Zombie related) but it's come to my attention that this is being pushed back to 2011 while RZ finishes up working on H2, which is to be released this summer.

Guess we'll have to hang on a little longer for this one.
